Sidney First
Ministries: Missions

Missionary Reading Books Available
Two sets of six adult missions books are available at the missions desk located in the education foyer.

One of the adult missions books is entitled, "Baboons on the Runway: And Other Humorous Stories from Africa" by Richard F. Zanner.

Do missionaries ever have fun? According to this author, the answer is a resounding yes! Join former regional director Richard F. Zanner on a journey into the world of hilarious encounters and unlikely escapades lived out among his Nazarene colleagues in Africa. From being chased up a tree by a rhino to experiencing a "resurrection" in a morgue, you can be sure it's an adventure you aren't likely to forget!

Once you start a book, you will not want ot stop.

World Mission Broadcast Month
The August emphasis is World Mission Broadcast. The World Mission Broadcast (WMB) sends hope around the world.

Millions still have not heard of Jesus. Won't you help? World Mission Broadcast ministers all around the world by radio, television, and internet. It is not just an offering; it is PEOPLE FINDING THE LORD.

For $4.00 per minute you can send hope around the world through Nazarene broadcasts.

World Mission Broadcast is sending hope in:
*33 languages
*80 countries
*91 programs
*1355 broadcasts

Yet to Reach:
*116 countries
*2763 languages

You can help by placing your offering in the offering plate on Sunday mornings (make sure your check or cash is placed in an envelope with your name and that it is for the world mission broadcast) or send it to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1899 Wapakoneta Ave. Sidney, Ohio 45365.

Faith Promise Helps Nazarene Missions Globally
Where does Faith Promise Money Go?

Alabaster. Alabaster purchases land and builds churches, district centers, missionaries' and pastors' homes, schools, compassionate ministries centers, hopsitals and clinics globally.

Work and Witness. People volunteer to spread God's Word as they work-constructing, repairing, and painting buildings around the world.

Mission Education. Adults, children, and youth learn about missions through a variety of methods, including mission services, books, tapes, CDs, DVDs, personal involvement, listening to missionaries speak, as well as other materials.

Missionary Health Care. This helps provide for the health needs of Nazarene missionaries through the Distinguished Service Award, Memorial Roll, Gifts from the Heart, and special offerings.

Compassionate Ministries. This helps with disaster areas and by sending Crisis Care Kits wherever needed. It also helps AIDS orphans and people recovering from addictions.

World Mission Broadcast. Through this, people learn about Jesus and His saving grace via radio, television, and the internet, in their own languages.

World Evangelism Fund. None of these ministries could take place without the World Evangelism Fund. This fund provides missionaries' salaries and retirement, institutions of higher learning, medical facilities and literature. It helps facilitate the Church of the Nazarene globally.

When you give to faith promise, you give to all these ministries. Ask God to direct you in how you will participate in faith promise this year.

See Denise McPheron if you have any questions on how you can give.

Holiness Today Magazine "A Magazine for Everyday Faith"
Helping people discover tools for everyday faith, for understanding the message of holiness in practical ways, and for acquiring a sense of conenction to the church-all done through the pages of Holiness Today-is the goal in partnering with you.

Holiness Today is the primary magazine for the Church of the Nazarene in English-speaking areas. This magazine is printed every other month offering six annual issues for only $10.

Every member in our congregation can benefit from a subscription to Holiness Today. See Abby Bowman, Pam Coleman, Sheri Emerson, Patty Maxwell, Denise McPheron, or Randi Wiford if interested in subscribing.

Pop Cans for World Evangelism
Save your popcans! The recycling of the pop cans goes towards the World Evangelism Fund. Place your cans in a trash bag (tied tight). A special storage container is located at the side of the garage to the left of the church parking lot.

This popcan ministry began many years ago by Curly McLain our original "Pop Can Man". Curly has a garage which he works out of to smash and count every pop can that is brought in. Every April, Curly takes the pop cans to the recycling center. The money earned from these pop cans goes towards helping pay our World Evangelism Fund.

Thank you Curly for your love and dedication!
